In Spain, and many other developed countries, the facilities for growing and producing silk closed down in the mid 70's. The marketing for synthetic fibres ultimately beat out the queen of natural fibres, and synthetics became the style.

In the late 80's, Sodintex put their stakes on the comeback of natural fibres, in particular silk.

Not long afterwards silk painting, an age old art form in China and Japan, began to gain popularity in Europe and dyes and other materials specifically designed for silk painting appeared on the market shortly after.

Since then, Sodintex has been a supplier for natural silk painting supports, textiles, scarves and other accessories for painting, dyeing or printing on silk.
